‘The most wonderful time of the year, or at least it would be if I wasn’t stuck in a world full of talking animals’ Cameron thought to herself. It was the first year of Cameron living in Safe Haven, and Christmas was fast approaching. It was rare for her to be away from her family at this time of the year but what could she do, she was trapped in this strange new world of hers. But she did have to admit that her new coworkers and students were doing everything they could to make her feel at home. The staff and students invited her to the Christmas party that the School hosts each year, and Jackie and Alonzo were going to pick her up to go. Cameron buttoned up her winter coat and wrapped a scarf around her neck, and was prepared to step outside for some fresh air when she heard the front door knocking. Cameron walked over to the door a peered through the peephole. Alonzo and Jacky were standing right outside staring at the peephole and smiling.
‘oh god,’ Cameron thought to herself. ‘what am I doing, what am I doing, oh what am I doing’ she repeated over and over in here head. Cameron unlocked the doors and slowly cracked the door open, “h-Hey g-guys.” Cameron mumbled.
“CAM! Oh, merry Christmas, man I can’t believe it’s already been a year since you started working here, boy does time fly!” Jacky said as she wrapped Cameron in a hug. After Jacky released her from the death grip of a hug Cameron found herself in yet another hug from Alonzo. “Feliz Navidad senorita!’ he said. Cameron was petrified, here she was being hugged by two giant birds, that were in human form how could things get worse?
“So, Cam you ready to go?” Jacky asked, Alonzo released Cameron from his hug, and Cameron collected herself “um, I, um,” she started, both Jacky and Alonzo stared at her worrying that they had caused a mental breakdown, but a weak smile grew o Cameron’s face “sure, let me just grab my coat.” She finished before walking into the kitchen.
The weather outside was frightful, but luckily for the trio, the school was only a few Blocks away from Cameron’s house. The academy was brightly lit with beautiful Christmas lights, and decorations were everywhere. A few Staff and students were still outside most likely waiting for friends. the inside of the school looked amazing. The main lobby had a hedge Christmas tree, decorated with multi-colored lights, the stairways were lined with bright lights, and ornaments hung from the ceiling. There were buffet tables all around the lobby manned by volunteering students and staff. A few of Jacky’s’ students including Jack, spam and Zill were helping to set up the last few remaining lights. Zill gave Jack a thumb up, telling him to plug in the lights. When jack did so, the lights short-circuited and electrocuted him. This caused Jacks cousin Damian, the son of Satan to break out into a fit of laughter earning death stares from everyone around him, including his crush Kayla who possibly gave him the worst stare out of all of them. Addison and a few of the other students from the art department were making a Mearal for the front lobby, and Zechariah, along with Carrie, and Fabian were on the second floor looking down while sipping on some hot cocoa.
Cameron felt a tugging on her plant leg, she looked down and spam was staring up at her with a small bag in his mouth. Cameron took the bag from him and looked inside, she pulled out a coffee mug that read “#1 councilor!” her eyes welled up with tears, and she looked up to notice a few of the staff and students surrounding her. She wiped the tears from her eyes and was quickly embraced by everyone in a group hug. Although the fact that she was being hugged by at least a dozen talking animals, she felt oddly comfortable with the situation, she thought to herself, ‘they really do mean well, maybe this won’t be so bad, I think I could get used to this.’
After the group finished their group hug, Cameron cleared her throat and wiped the tears from her eyes. “Everyone, you have no-no idea what this means to me.” She said, “ever since I got here, you’ve all been so supportive, and I am truly thankful for that, and,” she said before starting to sniffle. “I just want to say, to say thank you, for making me feel so welcome, and loved, just thank you.” She finished. Once again everyone embraced Cameron in a group hug, even the son of the devil, couldn’t help but join in, on the loving event, that and he could sneak a peek on the cheek to Kayla without her knowing. Truly for everyone involved this was a Christmas to remember.
A/N: holly carp, this looks so rushed, words cannot express how much shame this brings upon me, but because of how the year turned out this is the best I could do for my secret Santa, so for what it’s worth, I hope who all read this find themselves in some sort of holiday spirit. Enjoy your holidays and I shall see you in the future,
A Zoophobic Christmas
It's got to be said, this is not my finest work. the story was just rushed plain and simple and I feel (almost) bad for having to give this to some one as a secret Santa. oh well, every piece is an improvement.
